The Hikmicro Lynx LH15 2.0 in test – the new series from Hikmicro

In our test today we show you the Hikmicro Lynx LH15 from the 2.0 series. Compared to the first generation, this series impresses with a removable battery system instead of a permanently installed battery. You can find out what the thermal imaging monocular can do, what is included in the delivery and how the device performs in the field in our Hikmicro Lynx LH15 2.0 test – read it now!

The Hikmicro Lynx LH15 2.0 Review

The scope of delivery of the Hikmicro Lynx LH15 2.0

As always, we start our test with the scope of delivery – and as always, we point out that this can always vary.

The accessories of the Hikmicro Lynx LH15 2.0 is as follows:

  • A protective bag
  • A wrist strap for the device
  • A cleaning cloth
  • Charging cradle for the batteries
  • Two 18650 batteries
  • USB-C charging cable / data cable
  • A Quick Start Guidein German (you will receive a detailed operating manual from us by email or via your customer account)

Note: As with the first generation, the Lynx also in the 2.0 series as 15, 19 and 25 variants available. Since the variants differ primarily in the lens size, all come with identical operating instructions – so if features or actions are explained there that are not possible on your device, you can rest assured. The box in which the devices are delivered is also identical. Here you will find a small lettering on the outer packagingas well as information on the device itself about which model you are holding in your hand.

The features of the Hikmicro Lynx LH15 2.0 in review

The Lynx LH15 2.0 impresses with a intuitive operation: Inspired by the Condor series, the buttons on the top of the device are sensibly arranged so that you can find their way around immediately thanks to the pictograms. You will find the magnification on the rearmost button. Important to note: The device has a basic digital magnification of 1,4x, but no optical magnification. The magnification can be digitally increased up to a maximum of 5x using the magnifying glass button, which gives a magnification range of 1,4 to 11,2x. However, only the first two zoom levels are really useful.

In the middle of the row follows the menu button, which you can use to navigate through the menu with short and long taps – but more on that later.

The front button is the photo button, which you can use to take photos and videos – thanks to the 16 GB internal memory, your Save digital trophies directly on the device. But you can too about the Hikmicro Sight App recordings – here the files are uploaded directly to the cloud. The last button in the row is, as usual, the on/off button, which was given a small diode which glows slightly red when in use - so you always know whether your device is in use. Due to the tilt sensor installed in the second generation, this is no longer easy to see via the illuminated display. Well done!

Since the Lynx LH15 2.0 has does not have manual focusing on the lens, manual focusing is no longer necessary. This is a great advantage, as the device can be operated more easily and conveniently with just one hand, even under difficult conditions. The simple rubber cover for the front lens is kept simple, but can be easily exchanged or replaced if necessary.
The bottom of the Hikmicro Lynx LH15 2.0 houses the USB-C input as well as a thread for attaching a tripod or carrying strap – at this point we naturally recommend the Thermal Neckband from our online shop!

Further important featuresthat we have prepared for you in Hikmicro Lynx LH15 2.0 test include the following:

  • Replaceable battery system:
The Hikmicro Lynx LH15 finally has a battery replacement system in the second generation, which no longer tied to a manufacturer Instead, the thermal imaging monocular can be used with commercially available 18650 batteries operate – but hunters should pay attention to the correct voltage here. This welcome innovation allows you to obtain the batteries conveniently and cost-effectively – we think it's great! Inserting the batteries is also well solved; a simple sliding mechanism lets the batteries slide into position, and pictograms in the battery trays show which way they should be inserted.
Two of the batteries including the matching charging cradle are already included in the delivery. We recommend that you fully charged batteries to open up the area – Hikmicro Although the Lynx LH15 2.0 has an operating time of 6,5 hours, this is really only achievable under ideal conditions. We therefore recommend calculating with three to four hours.
  • Intuitive menu navigation:
The Hikmicro Lynx LH15 2.0 impresses with user-optimized operation. Even though it is only equipped with three buttons for operation, the system behind it is logical: The middle button speaks the hierarchical menu that prioritizes frequently used functions according to user habits. A short press lets you switch through the color palette, a long press takes you – unlike the first generation – to the top menu where you can most important settings You also have the option to select your vvisual experience to suit your individual needsby configuring settings such as sharpness, contrast, and other personalized options. You can access further settings via the last tile in the top menu, where the complete menu with numerous functions is built up - such as the Tilt or tilt sensor - on.
  • Tilt sensor:
The tilt or tilt sensor of the Hikmicro Lynx LH15 2.0 can be used as Standby control This principle is probably familiar to some from the Condor series: If your monocular is hanging on the neck strap or lying on its side, the device automatically switches to standby mode to Save energy and extend battery lifeFrom a lateral inclination of 75° as well as a vertical inclination of 70°, the Lynx is automatically ready for use again – in our opinion a successful alternative to the well-known eye sensor.

Technical details from the Hikmicro Lynx LH15 2.0 Review

A powerful 384 sensor, a field of view of around 30 metres and 1,4x magnification: these features make the Lynx a perfect hunting companion, as it is not only impressive for forest hunting and stalking, but is also ideal as a support for an attachment device.

The Lynx LH15 2.0 is WLAN-enabled and can be conveniently connected to the Hikmicro Pair Sight App. You can use this to Stream image - a particularly useful feature for nature observation. In this case, it is worth using the Redhot or Blackhot mode to quickly capture even small animals. The maximum range of the device is about 750 meters for 1,80 m objects.
